05/01/2010 - The Vigil Honor is a mark of distinction and the highest honor that the Order can bestow upon its members as recognition of one's unselfish leadership in service. Under NO circumstances should tenure in Scouting or the OA be considered as reason enough for a Vigil recommendation. By-Laws Revisions
05/01/2010 - The LEC will consider proposed revisions to the Lodge By-Laws during the business of its upcoming meeting on the 26th of May. All Officers, Chairmen, and Troop Representatives are encouraged to attend the meeting, support, or submit comments on the revisions.
Proposed changes will available here starting May 15th.
General Meeting
05/01/2010 - A General Meeting of the Lodge will take place on June 15th at the Hayden Lodge, Camp Sayre. The meeting's business starts at 7:00 PM and will include the election of Lodge Officers for the 2010-2011 term. All youth Arrowmen are encouraged to attend and cast their votes.
Youth Arrowmen interested in running for a Lodge Office position should review the duties of each officer and complete the Officer Candidate Form with signature approvals. [ officer candidate form ] [ officer duties ]
Sanctuary Project @ Storer
During four service weekends in the fall of 2009, the Lodge raised the supports for its All-Faith Sanctuary project at T.L. Storer Scout Camp. Thanks to Troop 250 and the Knights of Storer for their support on these workdays. The Sanctuary will provide a special place of reverence and mediation for use by and in respect of all faiths and religions.
Service weekends for the completion of the structure this spring are currently being planned. Participants are expected to put in a full day of work on Saturday starting at 7:00AM and ending at 4:00PM and will be fed lunch. We will need a dozen people for each weekend (experienced carpenters and manual laborers). If you are available to attend one of these weekends of cheerful service, please register. Rain date for each Saturday is the next day (Sunday). Registered Arrowmen will be contacted with details and updates as each date approaches.
Ipswich River Service
Arrowman Kevin S., in coordination with the Ipswich River Watershed Association, is coordinating a centennial service project at the Ipswich River Park in North Reading (on Central Street) on Saturday, June 5th, from 8:00am to 2:00PM.
Interested Scouts should be prepared to bring a water bottle, bag lunch, gloves, an ax, saws, and/or loppers, If you have them. If you have questions or can not make this date, but would like to know about a possible future service date, contact Kevin via email.
Walk to Defeat ALS Report
On May 25th, seven (7) Arrowmen gave cheerful service to the community at the ALS walk in Chelsea, benefiting the new high tech facility to improve ALS patients' quality of life. Close to 1000 walkers participated. Thanks to the Lodge members, Scouts and Leaders from Troop 20 and Troop 109 who helped all around and directed traffic and parking, and cooked hot dogs. Walk to Defeat ALS Service
Missi-Tuk Chapter Chief Thomas S. is looking for Arrowmen to help with service at the Walk to Defeat ALS on Sunday, April 25th at the Mary O'Malley Park in Chelsea. Volunteers (from any chapter) will help the event organizers direct walkers. Contact Thomas via email.
Centennial Day of Service
Moswetuset Lodge is proud to support the Council in promoting the Centennial Day of Service. Arrowmen and the Scouts in your troop can make a real difference on April 24th. Whether your unit plans its own service project, or joins with one in your local, state or National Park. Whatever your interest, there is a project that needs YOUR help! Specticle Island Service
Moswetuset Lodge will adopt service projects on Spectacle Island, a Boston Harbor Island National Park, for the Centennial Day of Service. Park Serve Day is April 24th, 2010 - reservations have been made for 25 Arrowmen to leave on a ferry from the Shipyard Pier in Hingham at 8:30AM and will depart the island at 2:30PM. The Lodge will help to prepare the island for the season. Volunteers should bring gloves, lunch and a water bottle. A permission form is needed from under-18 participants. This service day will run, rain or shine, so come prepared.
